Justin and Tim don flame retardant suits for the hottest Hot Gaming News this week: Hollywood Redux and IGL are going to San Diego Comic Con 2016, the much discussed Blizzard Lawsuit and what it means to gamers, PLUS skill based gaming coming to casinos and MORE.
In the news:
Gamemaker Blizzard has been dealing with cheat bots since for many years. Now, they are suing German company Bossland, most known for the “Watchover Tyrant” cheat tool from Overwatch, for copyright infringement and unfair competition.
Blizzard notes in the lawsuit that Bossland uses third-party contractors that obtain illegal access to the game in order to repurpose it for the hack. Plus, Blizzard announced to players that it would be taking cheating in Overwatch very seriously, banning numerous player accounts just one week after the title’s release, a more aggressive stance than previous, so the company is overall cracking down on modifications.
Blizzard strikes to halt the disruptive botting that has affected their games in a negative way for players. Bots contribute to big time slowdowns for players, like teams not being able to play as desired because a bot is only farming gold/resources for the account, and slow down servers by increasing the load with junk data.
