About the Game:
Cruis’n World is the 1996 sequel to the 1994 arcade racer Cruis’n USA. As the title implies, Cruis’n World allows players to race on various tracks around the world. The game also features more cars than Cruis’n USA. This game introduced stunts to the Cruis’n series. They served to dodge obstacles, take close curves and so. If the stunt makes the vehicle fly in the air, the game gives the player extra seconds of time. The game also uses small rocket boosts to speed up.
The game was later released on the Nintendo 64 in 1998, being the best received of the Cruis’n ports. Unlike in the arcade version, quite a few of the tracks are unlocked from the beginning in the Nintendo 64 version, though some tracks and cars can be unlocked by progressing through the game.
Players can choose to race in championship mode or simply cruise the world. Cuis’n World includes many more new cars to decide between as well as many new locales. Free games are awarded for winning each race. Perform certain tricks to get time bonuses. The world tour will take you around the world and back. There are on over four different continents. Go full speed in locations such as New York City, Hawaii, Japan, Russia, China, Africa, Australia, and more.
Fans of the previous game will enjoy what this game has to offer. Paint jobs, secret cars, and tracks can be unlocked using the various view buttons. A helpful hint to remember is to know what side of the road cars travel. This will help you to know what side of the road to drive on to avoid hitting oncoming traffic head-on.
Despite that Cruis’n World was released for the arcade over twenty years ago and wasn’t the most popular Midway release, with an average rating of 62.76%, it can still be found in many major arcades – around the world – and on the Nintendo 64 for your in-home experience.
